Swapfiets is a hyper growth organization which has the sole purpose of providing their swap bikes in as many cities as possible. Their mission is: “to realize more liveable cities. A city less congested, with cleaner air, healthier people and less waste”. In 2021 Swapfiets has centralized the recruitment activities towards their Amsterdam headquarters.


Because of the centralization of recruitment, they were left with insufficient organization in the team. It furthermore lacked a clear daily guidance. De Wervingsfabriek was requested to provide a head of talent acquisition (recruitment) and accomplish a set of goals together with the CHRO of Swapfiets, Daniëlle Alewijn.

The assignment was to professionalize the recruitment team and come up with structural solutions to accomplish the set growth in 9 countries. The organization also had to become trustful in recruitment once again.

Our commitment

The most challenging turned out to be training the (junior) talent acquisition team into recruitment experts. Our head of talent acquisition, Guido Dekker, took care of presenting the recruiters as experts again. He accompanied and trained them, Build a successful international employer branding and referral campagne from scratch, and at last developed a thorough reporting structure for the MT.


With this team, we accomplished 400+ hires and eventually took on a permanent head of talent acquisition to replace Guido. That is how we manage to guarantee continuation of the current process.
